Families may receive help organizing concerns, gathering relevant information, reviewing available records, preparing questions, identifying priorities, and planning follow-up steps. The Advocacy Anchor does not perform diagnostic evaluations.
Does The Advocacy Anchor provide support for preschool transitions?
Yes. The Advocacy Anchor supports families preparing for preschool and age-three transitions. Support may include organizing records, preparing questions, reviewing family concerns, understanding possible timelines, discussing Child Find or school district questions, and planning next steps.
Can you help me understand Child Find?
The Advocacy Anchor can provide non-legal, consultative guidance to help families organize questions related to Child Find, gather concerns and records, prepare for school district conversations, and identify possible next steps. Formal eligibility and evaluation decisions remain with the appropriate school district or system.
Can you attend a transition or school meeting with me?
Meeting Attendance & Family Support is available as a paid service for approved meetings. Meeting preparation is also available separately and may include document review, development of questions, organization of family priorities, and preparation of talking points.
Do you only help families in Sumter?
No. The Advocacy Anchor is based in Sumter, South Carolina. In-person support may be available in surrounding communities and the Columbia area based on scheduling and travel requirements. Virtual support may be available across South Carolina when appropriate.
