Meet Brittany Houck

Experience that shapes practical, family-centered support.

Families often need someone who understands both children and the systems surrounding them. My work is rooted in real experience with developmental concerns, autism-related needs, communication, behavior, routines, services, and family support.

Guidance that goes beyond handing parents a list.

Hi, I’m Brittany Houck, founder of The Advocacy Anchor.

I am an early intervention professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, years of experience working in ABA, and hands-on experience supporting children with developmental delays, autism-related needs, communication challenges, challenging behaviors, daily living needs, and family routine concerns.

Through my work, I have supported children and caregivers in homes, childcare settings, and natural environments. I have seen how confusing it can be for families to navigate evaluations, referrals, Medicaid questions, therapy options, school transitions, provider waitlists, and service systems.

Many families are not lacking love, effort, or concern. They are lacking clear guidance and someone willing to help them organize the next step.

How ABA Experience Supports This Work

ABA shaped the way I understand children, behavior, communication, and learning.

While The Advocacy Anchor does not provide ABA therapy, my ABA background is an important part of the lens I bring to parent coaching, child observation, service navigation, and advocacy support.

My ABA experience helps me look beyond the surface.

It has helped me understand that behavior can communicate a need, that reinforcement matters, that communication skills are essential, and that routines, expectations, environment, and skill development can all affect a child’s success.

This background helps me ask better questions, notice patterns, consider what a child may be trying to communicate, and help families think through practical supports and next steps.

The Advocacy Anchor does not provide ABA therapy, behavior analytic treatment, clinical behavior plans, or formal ABA assessment.

Why This Work Matters

Families need more than information.

Parents are often told to apply, call, request, schedule, or prepare — but are not always shown how to move through the process successfully.

Preparation

I support families with questions, summaries, meeting priorities, communication drafts, document review, and planning.

My Approach

Honest guidance, resourceful problem-solving, and caregiver accountability.

Families are supported without judgment, but meaningful progress requires parent participation, communication, practice, and follow-through. My goal is to help families feel less overwhelmed and more prepared to take the next practical step.

Plain-language support I believe families deserve explanations they can actually understand and use.
Practical next steps I focus on what needs to happen next, who needs to be contacted, and what questions need to be asked.
Child-centered thinking I consider communication, development, routines, environment, behavior patterns, caregiver concerns, and service needs.
Caregiver partnership I guide, prepare, and support families while encouraging caregiver participation and follow-through.

What You Can Expect

Support that is practical, organized, and family-centered.

Clear Conversations

I help families talk through what is happening, what has already been tried, what concerns keep coming up, and what needs to be addressed next.

Organized Next Steps

I help break overwhelming processes into manageable actions, questions, priorities, calls, documents, and follow-up items.

Support Without Replacing Your Role

I can guide and support the process, but caregivers remain an essential part of communication, decision-making, and follow-through.
